Summary:
Heart Failure (HF) is a severe and progressive condition
affecting more than two million people in the United States.
Approximately 400,000 new cases are diagnosed annually. Almost
1 million hospitalizations occur each year for patients with
this condition at an estimated cost of over $8 billion for
inpatient care and more than $3 billion in outpatient costs.
In patients ages 65 years and older, it is the most common
condition for hospitalization.
