| Dr. Hall has practiced as
a hospitalist in the Department of Internal Medicine at
the University of Missouri in Columbia since 1999. He
received his medical degree from Washington University
in St. Louis, and completed his internal medicine residency
at Bethesda Naval Hospital in Bethesda, Maryland. He serves
as an Associate Professor of Clinical Internal Medicine
and actively participates in medical education in the
preclinical and clinical curriculum within the School
of Medicine. In October, 2002 he became the Director of
the Office of Clinical Effectiveness at University of
Missouri Hospitals and Clinics. In May, 2008, he was appointed
as the Chief Medical Officer for University of Missouri
Hospital and the Senior Associate Dean for Clinical Affairs
of University of Missouri-Columbia, School of Medicine. |

Dallas. She previously served as the associate program
director for ambulatory care for MUs Internal Medicine
residency program. She joined the OCE in August 2008. |

Dr. Cox is the Manager of Quality Improvement and Patient Safety at University of Missouri Health Care. Her expertise involves practicing, teaching, and researching the science of quality and safety improvement across specific patient populations and in facilitating healthcare operations redesign teams. Central roles include leadership in design and promotion of improvements in the culture of patient safety among health care professionals and in promoting the adoption of high reliability organizational characteristics. She is involved in student and healthcare professional curriculum design, implementation and evaluation in content central to the development of behaviors, skills and attitudes that support quality improvement, patient safety, crew resource management, and team work activities.

| Sue is the coordinator of
Patient Safety for University Hospital and Clinics. She
received her Associate's of Science Degree in Nursing
from Maryville College in 1977 and received her Bachelor's
of Science in Nursing and Master's of Science in Nursing
Administration from the University of Missouri - Columbia.
Sue also maintains national certification as a legal nurse
consultant. She serves on the UHC Quality /Patient Safety
Improvement Committee, and the UHC Safety Committee. Scott
was named as a project consultant for University Health
Care Consortium's Survivability Project Team in 2006 .
Sue has co-lead the institution's Wounded Healer or Second
Victim Initiative and is serving as PI on a Qualitative
Research Project to help describe this phenomenon. In
her professional career, Scott has experience in Neonatal
Intensive Care, neonatal transport, legal nurse consulting
and quality improvement. In each of her professional roles,
she has extensive experience in the field of healthcare
quality improvement and patient safety initiatives. Sue
joined the OCE team in April 2006. |

Laura is a Clinical improvement Specialist with the office of Clinical Effectiveness. She received her Associate’s of Science with Jewish Hospital College of Nursing and Allied Health/Washington University in 1995. After working in medicine, neonatal intensive care, and pain management, in 2002 she completed a Masters Degree in Holistic Nursing. She has worked in palliative care for the past few years and has a strong belief in quality care for patients, developed through her personal and professional experiences. She comes to the OCE with skills related to event investigation, post-event support of staff and families and ability to facilitate the organizational response to safety events/close calls.

nurse in the state of Illinois. Board Certified in Gerontology
with the ANCC in 1996. Certified by the state of Missouri
as an Instructor for Nursing Assistants, Medication Technicians

Laurel's association with the Office of Clinical Effectiveness began in 1998. She has led teams in implementing process change and evidence-based practice using the continuous quality methodology. She serves on the Medical-Neurosurgical ICU Quality Improvement Committee, the Advanced Practice Nurses Council, Skin Care Team , and chairs the Inpatient Glycemic Control Committee . In her role as clinical nurse specialist, she coordinates the care delivery for the critically ill patients in the Medical-Neurosurgical ICU, tracks their outcomes, and reports this data to the unit's Quality Improvement Committee. She also provides didactic education, leads small workshops in patient safety, and acts as preceptor for graduate nursing and medical students. She received her Baccalaureate in Nursing from the University of New Hampshire , her Master of Science in Nursing from Northeastern University in Boston, Ma. and is currently a doctoral student at the Sinclair School of Nursing at the University of Missouri. She has worked as a bedside nurse on a telemetry unit, medical-surgical ICU, medical ICU, and cardiac ICU.

Holly has worked for the University of Missouri-School of Medicine since August 2004 when she joined the Department of Surgery working in the Neurosurgery Administrative Offices. In June 2006, she joined the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery/Missouri Spine Center as Administrative Assistant. In June 2008, Holly came to work with Dr. Les Hall, Dr. Kristin Hahn-Cover, Dr. Karen Cox, and the OCE team. Holly also coordinates the Crew Resource Management (Crew Training) courses for UMHC.
